Digital Twin – Reference Architecture standard progression

August 11, 2023

Digital Twin – Reference Architecture project (ISO/IEC 30188) is approved for the next stage of processing, the Committee Draft Consultation ballot. The main objectives are receiving comments from a broad set of stakeholders and reaching consensus on the technical content of the draft.

This project specifies a general digital twin reference architecture in terms of defining system characteristics, a reference model and architecture views for digital twins. Note: As digital twins comprise systems with diverse characteristics, the digital twin reference architecture abstracts, and provides tools for the development of digital twin solutions.

Many industry sectors in the real world and standardization domains can benefit from the use of a digital twin reference architecture by reducing costs, improving equipment performance, and increasing interoperability between systems.
