Subject:
Advance Notification of ISO 19119 FDAM 1, Geographic information - Services AMENDMENT 1: Extensions of the service metadata model

The subject FDAM is attached for action and information as indicated. This document is distributed for ISO final letter ballot at the FDAM stage. The U.S. TAG is required to recommend a vote for the National Body.

ACTION REQUIRED BY INCITS L1 - Recommendation to INCITS

The committee is to coordinate and develop the U.S. recommended position to INCITS for approval for submission to ISO. The position must be submitted in a format consistent with the guidelines specified by the ISO/TC 211 Secretariat.

The FDAM ballot began January 21, 2008 and ends March 21, 2008 (2-months only). The committee should confirm that its position on the FDAM is the same as it was for the DAM, or alternately, submit a proposed U.S. National Body position.

In preparation for submitting the proposed U.S. National Body position for the FDAM ballot, the committee should conduct a 30-day letter ballot or roll call vote if comments were accommodated at the ballot resolution meeting for thte enquiry stage which resulted in a change of the U.S. position, such as, approve with comments on the DAM ballot to approve, or disapprove on the DAM ballot to approve. The two-third voting approval is required.

The last position forwarded at the DAM, enquiry stage, was to approve.

The position options are: approval of the technical content of the FDAM as presented; disapproval of the FDAM for technical reasons to be stated, or abstention.

If the FDAM is approved, only minor corrections as judged by ITTF will be taken into consideration as modifications to the FDAM ballot text.  Technical and editorial comments will not be considered.

Any comments developed in support of the U.S. position should be presented in the enclosed ISO Comments Template document.

IMPORTANT

The committee should return the recommendation for U.S. vote to the INCITS Secretariat for approval by a fourteen day letter ballot no later than February 21, 2008 so that, if necessary, the Executive Board Letter Ballot Resolution Procedure may be conducted and the U.S. vote forwarded to ANSI by to the ISO closing date of March 21, 2008.

ACTION #2 - Recommendation for INCITS Adoption

The committee should notify the INCITS Secretariat if this standard is unsuitable for adoption as an American National Standard. A vote of majority approval accompanied by comments specifying the reasons for non-adoption is required. The recommendation for non-adoption should be sent simultaneously. INCITS will adopt the ISO Standard unless notified, see INCITS Adoption Policy.

ACTION REQUIRED BY INCITS

INCITS members should review the FDIS document at this time and anticipate the INCITS Letter Ballot on this subject posted to the Online Balloting System.
